• mgr Joanna Sikorska

I hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Middle East Studies, as well as a master’s degree in International Migration, from the Faculty of International and Political Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

I am currently a research and teaching assistant at the Department of European Studies and Economic Integration at the Krakow University of Economics, and a collaborator of the Centre for Advanced Studies of Population and Religion (CASPAR).

In my research, I combine the perspectives of demography, migration studies, and the sociology of religion. My main interests include the integration of immigrants in European societies, demographic change and population policies, religious change in populations, and the situation of ethnic and religious minorities, with particular attention to the Yezidi community and its diasporas. In my research I use both quantitative methods and qualitative content analysis.

I lead a research project funded under the PRELUDIUM programme of the National Science Centre (NCN). I took part in the international project FUME – Future Migration Scenarios for Europe (Horizon 2020), and since 2019 I have collaborated continuously with the Pew Research Center on the Measuring Religious Change project.

In my teaching, I lead classes primarily in intercultural communication and migration studies.
