Department of International Trade

The origins of the current International Trade Department date back to the establishment of the
Departmental Unit for Economics and Organizations of Foreign Trade in the middle of 1969 as a
part of the Institute of Trade at the Faculty of Trade Economics.

In 1973, Foreign Trade Departmental Unit was transferred to the Faculty of Production Economics becoming a part of the newly opened Institute of International Socio-Economic Relations, which was headed by prof. dr hab. Bogusław Jasiński. From the very beginning, the Foreign Trade Departmental Unit was headed by doc. dr. Stanisław Chociej. For a long time his „right hand” was dr. Klemens Budzowski, the current Chancellor of the Academy of Krakow, who in the years 1984-1988 was acting as the head of the Unit.

In late 1980s, prof. dr hab. Stanisław Wydymus took over the leadership of the International Trade Department, which was officially established in 1992 (with a department legal status – Katedra).

After changing the organizational structure of our University, the present International Trade
Department is currently at the Faculty of Economics and International Relations (in the years 1992-2002 at the Faculty of Economics).

From September 1, 2016, the head of the Department is prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Wach, and there are 10 faculty staff as well as 1 administrative staff employed in the Department.
