Department of European Studies and Economic Integration

Graduate of the University of Economics in Katowice (1975), doctor of economics (1981), habilitated doctor of economics (1991), professor of economics (2001), full professor of economics (2006).

In the years 1975-1998 she was a researcher and teacher at the University of Economics in Katowice, in the years 1993-1998 she held a position of  the head of the Department of International Economic Relations, she was the organizer and manager of the MBA in International Business (the first in Poland), she held a position of the head of the Center for Research and European Studies. She coordinated 6 international research projects and teaching financed by the European Union. She held a position of  Jean Monnet chair since 1994. She was a member of the National Integration Council of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, the reviewer of the National Integration Strategy. She also held a position of a  member of the Supervisory Board of the European Academy in Silesia.

Since 1998, he has been a researcher and teacher at the University of Economics in Krakow. She is  a specialist in international economic relations, in particular European economic integration. In the years 2003-2018 she held a position of head of the Department of European Economic Integration.

Her other achievements: member of the Program Boards of Polish and foreign scientific journals: European Integration Studies, Health Policy, European Studies, The review of European Law, Economics and Politics, Central European Review of Economics & Finance. She is the supervisor of 10 completed doctoral dissertations (doctoral theses), including 8 distinguished ones, and under her supervision another 5 doctoral theses are ongoing. She is the supervisor of over 400 master’s theses and 550 bachelor’s theses. She receives the highest student grades for her lectures and seminars. She prepared 12 habilitation reviews and 4 reviews of applications for the title of professor of economic sciences.She developed the study program for EUROPEAN Studies (launched in 2003) and specialization programs in this field (launched in 2014). She was the coordinator of 9 international EU projects. The European Commission awarded her the title of Jean Monnet ad personam chair in recognition of her outstanding scientific and teaching achievements in the field of European economic integration. She was the originator and coordinator of the Center of Excellence (Jean Monnet Center of Excellence).

She was a member of the European University Council at the European Commission (2011 – 2012). She is a member of ECSA – European Community Studies Association, Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, member of the expert team of the National Science Center, member of the expert group of the European Commission and permanent expert of EACEA – European Commission – Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency. She organized 10 editions of the knowledge competition about the European Union – “Europe is worth getting to know”, in which several thousand students of secondary schools in southern Poland took part.

She is annually awarded by the Rector of University of Economics in Kraków for scientific achievements.
