The Department of Real Estate and Investment Process Economics conducts research that focuses on the broadly understood field of real estate management and investments. The Department’s history, which spans more than 50 years, began in 1970 when, on the initiative of Prof. Leszek Kałkowski, the Department of Construction and Investment Economics was established. A specialisation in Construction Economics was also established. Currently, Prof. Bartłomiej Marona, PhD, is the Head of the Department.
The majority of the Department’s employees, in addition to their scientific and didactic experience, are practically involved in the real estate sphere, which is confirmed by the licences and professional qualifications provided for in the Act on Real Estate Management: real estate agent, real estate manager and property valuer. Some of the staff are active on the real estate market as advisers, experts and analysts.
The Chair cooperates with numerous entities involved in the real estate sphere – both Polish (e.g. Real Estate Scientific Society, Małopolska Association of Real Estate Agents, Institute of Real Estate Market Monitor) and foreign (e.g. European Real Estate Society, Conseil européen des Professions immobilières, American Real Estate Society ).
The Department of Real Estate and Investment Process runs the specialisation “Real Estate and Investment” offered to students of Economics. The specialisation is offered at two levels of full-time and part-time studies at the Cracow University of Economics.
